Welcome to "The Drivel Dump"

Here is where it started. I would love to have archives like everyone else, but I have to admit..... I really didn't expect I would get into this, not to this degree. As a result I was somewhat casual with the organization and the filing of this stuff. So I have attempted to reconstruct the 'discussion' the best I could. Hence the title. In any event anyone courageous enough to wade through this will have (besides some very dirty shoes) a fairly good idea on how this KenNett Work thing got started. Understand that this is by no means complete. I will continue to add the old stuff, save the new stuff (properly) and eventually perhaps we will have an archive. Till then.........

Hello,

I am an adopted Kennett, but a Kennett nonetheless. And we're Trekkers NOT
Trekkies. The latter refers to teenage girls all worked up over William
Shatner or Spock's ears or some other teenie-bopper fixation.

I was adopted by Jim and Sylvia Kennett in Methuen, MA in 1963. Methuen is in
far N. MA almost to Salem, NH. We lived in Andover until I was 5 and I've
since been all over the place. Dad died 4 years ago and Mom now lives in
Sarasota, FL.

My father's sister Patricia (Pat) Kennett married Frank Dudley and they live
in Haverhill, MA and I have 4 cousins there. My Dad's father died in 1945 or
so. His wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Kennett, remarried and became Betty Casey.
And I have Aunts and Uncles and Cousins all over the place there.

That's about as much of the story as I know. Since Dad passed away the family
doesn't keep in touch like we once did. And of course as people married the
group has spread out all over the US.

Please change my address on the Ken Nett Work to my regular e-mail address.
It gets read much more often:
kennett@i2020.net

Oh, Ladymyth is my girlfriend just FYI. If you were wondering how our name
got into her profile!
Thanks!

Response from host :

Very interesting, I have found that our family has drifted apart somewhat
since my father passed away as well. That may have something to do with
insanity behind the creation of the Ken Nett Work..... Richard (the imposter)
was the catalyst. The idea is to entice my Grandmother to obtain an internet
connection. If she does, I know those othe nuts hangin on our branch of the
family tree, mother, brothers(2 - Ronnie and Fritz), sisters (2 - Rande and
Robin) aunts and uncles (?) will be tempted to do so as well. From 'nuts' to
'nodes'.

Anway I suspect your note will be well received.... BTW, if you are not
Ladymyth, aka Michelle, then who might you be?

Another Kennett heard from. My husband, the legitimate Kennett, was born in
Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England. The Kennetts are descendants of King
Canute, the positive royal who commanded the sea to roll back. It didn't of
course. I'm the illigitimate Kennett because I married into the family,
don'tcha know. Anyway, I am now the widowed Kennett and I miss my legitimate
better half.
Who'd have known there'd be so many over here???

That's it! It is official! Jo Kennett is now decreed the oficial, Ken Nett
Work Soothsayer. Send your questions and concerns regarding psychic
phenomena, the future, your lot in life, to Jo, through me, via the Ken Nett
Work. Jo, would this qualify me as a 'channeler' ?

Obviously if your questions and concerns are at all sensitive you might want
to contact Jo directly.... though this would eliminate the possibility of any
of us having fun at your expense.

It means you would be the go between. In the good old days, what they now
call a chaneller was a medium - the spirits spoke through the medium. A
chaneller really reads the Tarot, does psychometry, clairvoyance, etc. It's
just another word fad the New Age junkies dreamed up.

Host Note :

Jo - I hope this go between role works out. Personally I am somewhat
concerned about the potential danger inherent in brokering the psychic and
spiritual dilemmas of this family. Karmaclysim in Cyber Space.

Rick:

OK, I'll bite on the psychic offering. What's in store for my career, Jo?
And how will you tell me from the other Richard Kennett (the creator of this
interesting but culturally dangerous Ken Nett Work)? (By the way, my
grandmother Kennett was named Jo).

And on Jeff's comment about Trekkies vs. Trekkers: down here in the Lone
Star State, Trekkies revolted and demanded to be called Trekkers (they said
it sounded more... mature, or something like that.) There was NEVER a
mention about teenage girls fixated with Vulcan ears or William Shatner. So
the traditionalists go by Trekkie, and the rabble go by Trekker. We should
hold the first Ken Nett Work vote on the appropriate terminology: Trekkie or
Trekker? Tradition or political correctness? The choice is simple.
Trekkies win, or a neutral zone will have to be established. (Unless I lose
by a landslide, in which case I will capitulate).

And now, without further adieu:

THE SOAPBOX
Democracy and the Internet

This nation is not a true democracy, it is a representative democracy.
That's what it was intended to be from the start. The advent of the Internet
provides an interesting question, because it COULD allow for true democracy.
But consider this: the Internet is worldwide. How can we manage to keep
people from other countries from determining our fate? Who will pay for the
programming, and who will monitor it? Who can be trusted? How can we
prevent multiple voting? Who will provide computers to the computer-less?
More importantly, there are a lot of complete psychopaths out there. How can
we stop Richard Kennett, the creator of the Ken Nett Work, from destroying
the fabric of American society with his vile, impertinent, dangerously
amusing creation? Much to be considered. Now I'll get off the Soapbox.

Well, I guess that's it. My creative juices runneth dry.

Host Note :

Can you believe this!.... The False Richard requesting the assistance of the
Ken Nett Work Soothsayer on matters of career. Ha! Do not waste the time of
the Great Mo, Jo on issues of such little import. Inquire locally.... Ask
those who masquerade as your friends, those who endure your presence at the
office, ask your brother the real reason he felt compelled to move to Moscow.

As for the Trekkie vs Trekker matter.... Being a card carrying, Ring bearing
member of the Rocky Jones Video Rangers I will have to disqualify myself from
any survey.

Now on to the last matter at hand. The insinuation that Ken Nett Work is some
sort of festering digital blight darkening the dawn of independence, wisdom
and truth. To this I have but two things to say - The Truth Hurts and We will
not be regulated.

My apologies.

Bob... No need to apologize, especially not to me the card carrying, ring

strong feelings within the Kennett clan as to whether we be 'Trekkers' or
'Trekkies'. As a Kennett I would be grateful to be called either. I'll say
what may have many of us concerned may be the attraction to pointy ears. I
for one have forgotten if that were you or Jeff..... I guess It doesn't

I am told Pennsylvania was an early strong hold for the Kennett Clan. One of
em must have impressed your dad in some manner or perhaps he just liked the

ethnic backgound. I have also found that when the roots are discovered to be

Nevertheless - anyone who has struggled and labored though life bearing the

Okay 12/25/68. The cut of your jib infers you should be in the health or
service related field to use your abilities to the fullest. Writing is
another strong possibility. You are a quick thinker...think on your feet.
You like to know what make people tick - and may investigate religion,
philosophy, and travel to other countires to learn more. You have have
difficulties with authority figures (you are more insightful than they are)
and this will become prevalent in January, '96. Things can become chaotic
and emotion around you then around career. Hang loose - let the others react
- compromise and listen. Keep your mouth shut. The others will give in to
the hysteria around the, and you can remain calm and win the war, despite
feeling held back. Just remember. Be the observer, do what is asked of you
and stay calm no matter what. Career wise still, sudden emotion, anger,
changes can erupt in Jan. They are actually beginning to form right now. So
from now to the end of Jan. stay cool. You CAN come out a winner. June and
Sept. 1977 and March 1988 will be high points for you. If you've learned
your lessons well, and keep re-ionventing and strengthening yourself, those
months and years can bring you long strides forward careerwise and
personally. Jo
============================================================

Hots's Note :

Well there you have it. Jo's 'reading' of Richard the False. A fine first
piece of work in her official capacity as the Ken Nett Work Soothsayer.

One thing is immediately evident in all of this.... Jo is a caring sensitive
woman, able to disguise discouraging, disheartening reality in a paragraph
of well turned euphemisms. The truth be known, Richard would probably fit
right in with the US Postal Service, though testing has revealed his most
appropriate vocation to be shepherd. I would urge those closest to him to
encourage him along this career path. This would generally enhance the safety
and quality of life those he would leave behind.

I think it would be a good idea for me here, to point out to all the nodes on
the Ken Nett Work, that my sparring with Richard is all in good fun. It has
to do with sharing a couple of things ... Like a name and a twisted mind for
starters. I hope the banter may continue and that it does not discourage any
others in the Clan from participating in this forum. Like the silent
"Barncats" for one....what are you guys all about anyway?

In closing I would like to thank Jo. These are not trivial matters to one in
the field of parapsychology. We are lucky to have her to consult with. I
would encourage others to engage Jo and share the results with the Clan. I
don't won't want to go next though. By the way Jo would remind you that in
order for this to work she requires the date, accurate time and place
(country, city and state) of birth. Planet if appropriate.

I'd like to thank Jo for her insightful reading. A couple of comments
though:

Health or service related field? As for health, I could never stick my hand
in someone's guts as an MD, nor could I pass the curriculum (shut up, Rick.)
Maybe a psychologist or something, but I'm not too interested... As for
service related fields, I've delivered everything but drugs and babies (the
only things that would have made me some $$$). Except the mail. I never
delivered mail, despite our brain dead host's assertion that I would fit in.
(I did go to apply once, but they weren't hiring that day. I hear mail
carriers make pretty decent money!) As for writing, I'm told I'm pretty
good, and I've thought about it. How about, "It was a dark and stormy
night...". And yes, I prefer to think on my feet. It allows me to
procrastinate. Just ask my mother. I do like to know what makes people
tick, but I think that's pretty universal. (Of course, it's strategically
valuable in almost any field... even a mail carrier.) As for investigating
religion and philosophy, I see the two as intertwined. Of course, I've
already figured out the meaning of live, but I won't share it with the likes
of family. And travel? Only on occassion. That's my brother's forte. And
do I have difficulty with authority figures? You bet I do. Like our host,
for example. An arrogant, self-centered know-it-all who tries to bully
people and hiding behind electronic mass mailings. We're mad, Rick, and
we're NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE! YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A !!!!!!
(Take THAT, punk.) Jo said things would be chaotic around me then my career.
Hey, life is chaos. Chaos in itself is the order of the universe, and has an
order to itself. (Oops, I'm getting philosophical... can't let the meaning
of life slip out.)

The best reading Jo had to offer is to keep my mouth shut. Good advice, but
did she have to say it so directly? That kinda...... kinda hurts. But
I'll take Jo's advice to heart, and conclude my letter now.

-- Rich "The Guru" Kennett

========================================================

Host's Note :

Well well well.... Jo is better at this than I could have imagined. I think
you had better take her warnings to heart... calm down and shut up.

I found your admission regarding the Postal Service ('I did apply
once')somewhat validating. I would imagine that a rejection like that is one
hell of a burden to carry through life.

Interesting insight into your philosophy - a suggestion that you might be
familiar with strange attractors and causality. Is there more?

Well said Rick!! You know I worked on the code team at a catholic hospital at the same time I was a minister, so I was able to perform two jobs at the same time. What really ticked me off was no matter who died, the priest would come in and go through the same routine of "forgiving the sinner" be it baby, youth, middle age or aged." I used to say my own prayer for the deceased either quietly in private with the body, or silently when there were others. The soul knew and heard. I feel prayer comes from the heart - not from rote. I have no ill feelings about any relition - just the rigid repetition that has no heart or warmth or personal aspect to it. Each religion feels a deep need to be sure, but God did give us heart, soul, feeling - and our own creativity - to feel and express. Jo

Wow, what a shock. I leave the counrty for two weeks and come back to a ton of E-mails from some long lost part of my life...fellow Kennetts. I can tell you are truely Kennetts by the wit you show. What a "Pandora's Box" you have opened!
I don't know how much of a Kennett I can be on this platform, but let me tell you a little about myself. I come from the loins of Henry Ward Kennett Jr., (a.k.a. HKennett@aol.com). I was born in the great state of Alabama but raised mostly in Ohio. My part of the Kennett family came from Roanoke, VA I'm told. I have yet to get down there and do some family digging, (not literally!). I lived in New Hampshire for a time and came across a Kennett, in North Conway, who said that there where two Kennett's who came to the states. One to the north in Portsmouth, NH, the other came by way of Virginia, (I guess I came from the that one).

I'm not into the psychic stuff, (it's not a part of by belief structure), so I will keep my distance to this aspect of the Ken Nett Work.

Not much more to say for now but thanks, and keep up the contact. It reminds me why I am what I am...a Kennett by God!

Best Regards,

Brian D. Kennett

Rick:

"Richad the Fellacious"? How can you get a typo on your own name? It's Richard, with an "r" between the "a" and the "d"!

Regarding the religion bit, I'm Presbyterian. I like Jo's comment that God didn't have a religion, 'cause it's a man-made thing. But I have to give credit where credit is due. Think of where would we be without it. Religion may have caused some terrible catastrophes, like the Inquisition, but it does provide the foundation for basic morality. Almost every religion, for instance, has a belief that murder is wrong. (Except for a whacked out Hindu sect, I think, that honors the art of assassination. Just something I heard about once.) And for any atheists out there, if there is no God (by whatever name), therefore no heaven or hell, then why is murder wrong? Food for thought.

Jo: thanks for the heads up about trouble at work in January. I'm stepping carefully around the workplace, keeping my mouth shut and doing what I'm told. We've got a big project starting in January, showing ads for the national retail sales tax in Iowa and New Hampshire. I don't need trouble to arise when I put my grubby little fingers on a big account. Also, you said you're an aspiring writer. What kind of things do you want to write, and would you be interested in a short story swap? I also like to write (but you already knew that) and would like the critique of a fellow writer. Maybe I'll send a file of a short story to Rick (mrpiialien, who can't spell his own name without a typo) for posting, but I'd like to get another opinion before unnecessarily exposing myself to Rick's barbs.

Another thought: I'm usually online at about 6:30 or 7pm, for varying lengths of time. Anyone else online around that time, drop me a line through e-mail. It's fairly instantaneous, and an online chat might be fun. Maybe Rick or Jeff could coordinate a live Ken Net Work session. Just a thought.

--Rich "The Guy Who Can Spell His Own Name Without A Typo"
===========================================================
Host's Note : Ah yes ....my favorite cousin! Talk about spelling! First of all I could admit error but instead I would rather point out that as I am from New York, I am allowed license to adjust your name to suit our dialect...i.e. I be callin you "Richad". Now this explains my 'misspelling' - tell me what you are up to with the twisting of your title "fallacious" .

Serious for a moment... One reason I chose to do this Ken Nett Work thing has to do with the sense of connection and community brought about by the Net. I have found it with total strangers having a common interest. It is strong and I have heard the term tribalism applied. This is not the time nor place for that whole discussion but let me say this, I would not refute that label.

Imagining that 'sense' of connection amongst a group of people sharing a common interest....Imagine some more...are those feelings amplified within a group sharing perhaps a genetic thread, and at the very least a name. I think...I feel this quite strongly, but then, I am a Kennett and I am perhaps 'certifiable' in more respects then one.

Richad....Thanks

Regards,

Rick

Nice to see new people joining the fold. As for staying away from the
psychic thing, definitely do what you feel comfortable with. I am a psychic,
yes, but I am also a retired Christian minister, and retired cardiology
technician (worked the code team just like on the TV program ER) I used all
three successfully in my hospital work, and once I left there, in
counselling. I am one of the few who is comfortable with using my psychic
abilities, but not everyone who is psychic likes it, or using it. It's
simply another gift from God, but one you must be comfortable with.

Rick (RJKennett), I write about the ironies of life, and inject a lot of my
own experiences into them. I have a short story about being shut in a room
with a live lion (half grown). The idiot thought he was being funny locking
me in the room with his "pet". What a rush! You could say the genre of my
stories and intended novels is "suspense".

Write me email, and we can see about reading for each other, if you like. No
harm in talking, wot?? Jo

Here's what it says about Rick Kennett in Terror Australis, the anthology
'Out of the Storm' is in:

Rick Kennett lives in Coburg, Victoria, and says of himself,
'I've been writing since the mid-seventies, first published in the SF
mag _Enigma' in 1979, the year I attended the Terry Carr/George
Turner SF workshop. But the supernatural is my forte...

It goes on to mention various works and (lots of) magazines he's been in,
including a 1982 novel 'A Warrior's Star', a radio show 'Pilots of
the Unknown' and a sale to 'Year's Best Horror Stories XXI'...

'"Out of the Storm" comes', he says, 'from my interest in the navy, and
two
years of Sundays spent in the engine-room of the museum ship HMAS
   Castlemaine.'

'Terror Australis: The Best of Australian Horror' is edited by Leigh
Blackmore
for Hodder & Stoughton, Australia, if you're interested.

'The Seas of Castle Hill Road' is in the anthology 'Strange Fruit',
edited by Paul Collins for Penguin, and doesn't give any further
information about the author.

I'm afraid I don't know how to contact him, other than with the information
presented here.

Hope that's of some help,

Happy New Year!

Please let me know if you still are having trouble with the KenNettWork
Home Page. The cache files theory is a valid one. That's why the whole
world shoud be using Netscape. Netscape periodically cleans up the old
cache files automatically! No muss, no fuss.

I'll add all the folks on your mailing list with e-mail links as soon as
you get me a list of real names to match e-mail addresses. Are you trying
to get John & Betty Kennett too I hope?

My goal is to have everyone's picture, that wants to, up by the end of Feb.
I just don't have a good picture of me so I really got to get on the ball
and go get a Passport photo taken. That'll be 8 bucks and will be good
quality. I have access to a scanner now so I think I will offer to do
photos for free in the next couple of weeks. I am too busy to do it right
now, but that'll make it easy for folks who don't have access or the
know-how to digitize their own photo. I am really loving building my site.
The Kennett stuff is cool. My Dad would have really liked this. He bought
us an Apple IIe shortly after they came out and I've been an Apple user
ever since.

Dear Rick,
I'm a little baffled as to the meaning of this message. The only
Rick Kennett I know would be my father Richard, who as far as I know is
not on Anerica Online. Since I also live with the man I have assumed that

HN = Host's Note from here forward.

Paul,

I will be sending this off to you at the "Campaign@ARATAR.MB.CA" address. If
this is not appropriate please get me a good E'mail address for you. Your Dad
Richard will be happy to know there are several subscribers (willing or not)
to this list that have an interest in genealogy. Collette Kennett seemed to
have done a good deal of research though she is not online yet. This is a
topic I / we wish to encourage. while Jeff KenneCtts the tree please share
all info regarding our 'roots'.

Speaking of roots, here is another avenue being explored....

I only have one, Mary KENNETT, M:Richard HALDANE circa 1635
     probably in Scotland.

That's the sum total of my knowledge. They are in my direct
     lineage.

.. a 1996 New Years wish:

.. May you find most of your ancestors but not meet them face to face!
